Dear Body...

Words are powerful, they can create or they can destroy. Some of us remember this when speaking to others, but how many of us remember this when speaking to ourselves? If you could write yourself a letter what would it say?
I wrote a new piece... I wrote a letter to my body. I wrote it for those of us that need a little reminder at times to see the “perfect imperfections” instead of focusing on our flaws.
I wrote this as a reminder of the things our bodies can do rather than can’t. I wrote this as a reminder that you can not love something until you truly accept it and that things won’t change until your mindset does.
I wrote this for me, I wrote this for them… I wrote this for us.

Dear body,
I have hated on you for being too big, too short or not narrow enough in some places.
For not being like those other girls, with their picture perfect faces.
I have hated on your softness, parts that aren’t flat enough and the shape of your curves.
All of this instead of focusing on the many ways in which you serve.
I hated the markings, the lumps and those bumps… all I could see was flaws.
Yet these parts make me unique, they say “this body is yours”.
I’m tired of this pattern, the feeling of not good enough, it’s one we need to break.
Life is simply too short, to keep repeating the same mistake.
Dear body,
I promise to put the energy in to keep you healthy, nourished and strong.
But also to be kind to myself on the days I feel like I don’t quite belong.
I promise to use words of kindness, even when I don’t believe it.
Because through repetition, I know that one day this is how I’ll perceive it.
I promise to push you to greatness and to new limits but also to let you rest.
To appreciate you for what you’re worth, which is invaluable… priceless at best.
Dear body,
I love you as the vessel, the ships that carries the most precious cargo of all.
I love you for carrying my heart, my mind and my soul.
